Another Party with Old Friends and new Fans!
May 30th, 2009, right on Back Creek overlooking the pool was the party to open the “Season” in Bath.
Great food, fun, and music. The best beach, boogie and blues on the Pamlico was heard by 250 guests and perhaps thousands
if you count all the boaters, dock sitters, and the crowd at the Quarter Deck! Hey, all those people can’t be wrong!
Thanks for all the kind words! We picked up three more gigs so look for us at your next event! June is booked up, but July
has a few dates available, as does August. Call me!
2008 Carolina Beach Music Awards were great!
Thanks to the Carpenter family for all they do to promote Beach Music and for the staff and stars that make

The band had some wonderful opportunities to interact w/ some other killer local & international
musicians. (a big thanks to all the other acts, The Crusaders from westmoreland, Janet "Little but Tallawah", Karen Smith
& the wonderful Joe Sizemore & Overboard!!). And finally to my super band James "T" Tillson on Guitar,
Scott Thornton on bass & Dave "D.D." Dawson on drums, for their continued positive attitude regardless of any snafus (
an expected occurence on the road) , their upbeat (or should I say Mellow jamaican -Style!) vibe & for playing their collective

South Coast Jazz - bigger and better

Like love, you can't explain the places you find music. Cultures and people collide, erupting
into a beautiful fusion in the right place, at the right time. Like Jamaica's South Coast and jazz in June.The Jamaica Standard Products 4th South Coast Jazz - let's call it a feast - was all that jazz and more. Hosted by
Sunset Resort & Villas, South Coast Jazz is jazz off the beaten track, and saw some memorable performances from upcoming
as well as familiar artistes.
All the artistes who performed on Friday night (except Karen Smith & Friends) returned to
the stage on Saturday, with an early teaser from Ginetta's Vendetta, closing another enjoyable night with headliner Joe Sizemore
& Overboard.
Normally an eleven-piece ensemble, Joe worked a smaller quintet: Joe on trumpet; Ken (Polk)
on trombone; (Ben) Taylor, saxophone; Lorenzo Werts, keyboard and Bill Dunn on drums. Joe & Overboard brought
more energy and great songs such as Earth, Wind and Fire's That's The Way Of The World and Reasons.
When The Crusaders finally closed South Coast Jazz at 1:15 am patrons were still
sitting enjoying the clear pre-dawn air of Treasure Beach while reminiscing on an eventful occasion.
My Review of the CWB

Craig Woolard has really done it! He has assembled a group of extremely talented musicians that, when mixed together, magically
turn into a band that goes beyond any genre expectations. Craig serves his audiences a delicious musical feast that is prepared
with a cup of Rhythm and Blues, a dash of Jazz, two pats of Funk, and a sprinkle of Buffett; served up over a batch of fresh
baked beach music, and a bottle of classic Ray. This group of musicians is the best, the tightest, the most exciting ensemble
on the beach music, no, any music scene today!
The magic of the CWB starts with Allen Wentz, sound man and musical mixologist. Allen is getting the best mix I have ever
heard from this ensemble, allowing the keyboard and guitar inner voices and musical nuances to come through.
J K Loftin is a rock. His upbeat, Funk Brothers style of guitar fill is authentic R and B, and adds an authenticity
to the band that is just hard to find anymore! His solo work is lyrical and soaring.
Greg Watson gets better, stronger, and more inventive every time I hear him. He is emerging as a musical leader on stage,
and his new song is very well received.
Terry Nash, possessing one of the most musical ears I have heard, is so musically savvy. He is always communicating on
multiple levels with everyone one stage.
Keith Stone is so much fun. His high energy is reflected in every move he makes, and can be heard in his horn work. He
loves to surprise you with an unexpected high note or harmony, and is very supportive of each musical idea as it is presented.
His strength and endurance is showcased in his fiery, contemporary solos.
Andy King, maybe the real magical ingredient in the ensemble, is always performing. He can take a set of tam sticks and
choreograph each beat! Andy sells himself with a dramatic quality that permeates from the tip of his hair to the point of
his toe. He is a joy to watch, and compliments the ensemble both musically and visually at every turn. And, when he sings
lead, he is a headliner.
And then there is Sam Bryant. Sam is utterly, undeniably, un-freaking believable. How can a drummer put so much into a
single beat of time? How can Sam take a completely new, never heard before lick, make it fit the demands of tempo, style,
and taste, and still make every musician in the room turn, look, and go… “DA ________YUM?!” Sam is …..
well, it just does not get any better than Sam.
Craig Woolard is not just a headliner with a great band. Craig is a member of the band, a player, a section man, a soloist,
a backup singer, and infinitely in tune with the ensemble. This is what sets the CWB apart. Everyone is a respected musician,
and Craig enjoys the respect of every musician that shares his stage. Now don’t get me wrong, it is Craig’s stage.
He owns it! As a mater of fact, he owns the whole venue be it club, hall, or festival stage. He owns his musical world, but
graciously shares his stage, his musical support, and the adoration of his fans with his ensemble.
Joe Sizemore is a music adjudicator, professional musician, and retired music educator.
I've gotta feelin' I'll be seein' the CWB again and again and again.
